What does it take to be a island steward? A willingness to picth in with our great group. This could be anything from occasional participation in island clean-ups and other projects to periodic monitoring trips to the islands. 2 of our "official" volunter positions are listed below:

Island Steward - As a steward you are making a commitment to actively become involved in the following:
* Annual training day
* On site visits
* Processing and filling out logs
* Work details
* Assisting new stewards
* Following protocol and procedures as set forth by the "Steward Program and the KCT"
* Monitoring, assessment, inspection of campsites.
* Good will ambassador for the program
* Educating campers and Island visitors on Low Impact and Leave No Trace techniques
* Outreach education
* Schedule commitment/buddy system
* Good communication with the Steward Program Coordinator
* Attend Steward Program meetings

Island Steward Observer - As an observer you will be responsible for the following:
* Attend Training Program
* Data gathering and processing
* Volunteer for work details
* Good will ambassador for the program
* Good communication with the Steward Program Coordinator
* Follow protocol and procedures as set forth by the "Steward Program and the KCT."
* Do not approach campsites directly or otherwise
* Attend Steward Program meetings
* Opporuntiy to shadow with verteran stewards on monitoring runs.
