Making
a trip to the islands?
Before
a visit to our beautiful islands, be prepared!
NOTE: CAPE ISLAND IS CLOSED TO CAMPING DUE TO MAJOR STORM DAMANGE AND SAFETY CONCERNS.
Before you come:
* Islands are open for public, noncommercial use only. Each island has
a per campsite maximum capacity. Cape - 6 per site, Vaugn's - 4, 6, 12
people @ designated sites, Trott - 4, 4 and 6 @ designated sites. See
maps.
* If you are going to camp, you will need to file a permit. To save time,
you can print out the permit and fill out in advance. Click
here for the permit. You also need to fill out a waiver. Print
the waiver here. PLEASE NOTE - this is not a registration - you still
need to go to the Kennebunkport Police. You can get these at the police
as well.
* Fire Permits as well-issued @ Police Station on a limited and condition
policy. Fire's are allowed only if you obtain a fire permit in designated
fire pit locations only for each island (see maplet). We prefer a no fire
policy as fires on islands can spread rapidly due to changing winds, interconnected
root systems, organic soils and minimal to no means of fire protection.
